Weatherization

In concert with its mission to promote self-sufficiency and self-reliance among its clients, CAGI performs weatherization services on the residences of eligible clients. The principal objective of this activity is to remediate safety issues associated with household appliances (stoves, water heaters, and furnaces) and to improve the energy efficiency of homes which, in turn, reduces the energy cost to the household.

Our Process

Working with dollars from the Department of Energy (DOE) and Health & Human Services (HHS), the agency weatherization staff:

Conduct energy audits of the residences of eligible clients to determine whether and where energy savings might be gained

Identify safety issues with stoves, water heaters, and furnaces which must be remediated

Assign the work to qualified contractors

Inspect the contractors’ work to ensure safety and energy savings

The weatherization activities performed by the contractors may involve such things as blowing insulation into attics and/or walls; sealing ductwork; insulating crawl spaces. Depending upon the results of inspection and testing, the scope of work could include the repair or replacement of water heaters or furnaces.
